First Holiday Schedule After Separation - Advice Needed

Going through the divorce right now and we're trying to figure out the holiday schedule. She wants Thanksgiving, I want Christmas. My lawyer says to fight for both but I don't want to be that guy. My kids are 7 and 9. I want them to have good holidays with both of us, not be caught in the middle of us battling over dates. Has anyone navigated this without turning it into a custody war? Looking for real advice from guys who've been through it.

Holidays after separation suck no matter how you split them. Can you guys do a split day thing where you get Christmas Eve morning and she gets the afternoon? Might actually be better for the kids than one parent getting nothing.

That's the rough part of divorce right now. My advice is don't fight her pick just to fight it. Pick the holiday that matters most to you and your kids, then let the other one go. You'll appreciate the clarity more than the win.
