How do you guys handle expenses that come up unexpectedly?

My son needed new soccer cleats and a uniform for his new team. Cost me like 150 bucks. Ex and I didn't have this expense in our agreement so I just paid it. But now I'm wondering if I should ask her for half. Don't want to seem petty but also we're supposed to split activities. What's the protocol here?
