How do you guys handle the holidays?

Holidays are coming up and I'm dreading it. We have two kids ages 8 and 11. Right now I have them on odd years for Christmas but the kids asked if they could just do Christmas morning with both of us together. I know that sounds crazy but part of me thinks it might actually be better for them than having to choose sides. Has anyone actually done this? What am I missing here because it sounds too good to be true but also kind of impossible.

We do every other holiday with the ex. Thanksgiving one year, Christmas the next, and we always do New Year's together for the kids. Takes some of the stress off.

That's a tough spot but asking them what they want is the right move. If the kids want both parents on Christmas, that's worth figuring out.

Holiday schedules are brutal in co-parenting situations. Good call asking the kids directly though, that shows you care about what matters to them.

With 8 and 11 they're old enough to help plan what they want to do. Sometimes letting them have input on how the holiday splits takes some of the dread out of it.

This is the worst part of co-parenting honestly. We try to do a few things together even though it's awkward because the kids care way less about fighting than we do about winning the day.
