How do you handle it when your ex starts dating someone new?

My ex introduced her new boyfriend to the kids last month without giving me a heads up. I found out from my 8 year old asking why mom has a new friend now. Legally she doesn't have to tell me what she does on her time, but this feels like something we should've discussed first. How have other dads handled this? I don't want to be that guy who overreacts but I also want some say in who's around my kids.

Yeah that's not cool. Your 8 year old shouldn't be the messenger about something like that. Might be worth bringing up that you both should communicate major changes before involving the kids.

That's rough that you found out from your kid instead of from her. You had every right to expect a heads up before introducing someone new. Document this stuff in case it becomes a pattern.
