How do you handle the emotional stuff when switching custody?
My ex and I have been doing every other week for the past year and it's working okay logistically but man, the drop offs and pick ups are rough. The kids cry sometimes, I cry sometimes, it's just hard. We're civil with each other which helps but I feel like there's gotta be a better way to transition. Do any of you have rituals or ways you make it easier for the kids? My 6 year old especially seems to take the switch harder than my 9 year old.
This is the stuff they don't prepare you for. It's not about the schedule working, it's about the kids asking if you still love them or something completely random like that when they leave. Have you talked to a therapist about it?
