How do you talk about a new partner with your ex when coparenting?

Started seeing someone pretty seriously and she's been around the kids a handful of times now. My ex found out through the kids and lost it, saying I'm introducing strangers and being irresponsible. But we're not married anymore and I don't think I need her permission for who I date. Obviously I'm keeping it appropriate around the kids. Am I wrong here or is she just being controlling? How do other people navigate this?

Phil from Seattle - been there with three kids and multiple partners over the years. The key is being transparent early and setting boundaries together about what's appropriate. Your ex's reaction makes sense even if it's not fair.

Samuel here - you've got to communicate proactively, not reactively. I learned the hard way that my ex needed a heads up before the kids met someone new. It's tough but way better than finding out through them.
