How much communication is too much with your ex?

We've been divorced 3 years and I'm trying to be civil for the kids' sake, but my ex texts me constantly about stupid stuff. Not kid-related, just venting about her day, asking my opinion on things. I think she's still not fully accepting the divorce is done. I don't want to be rude but I need boundaries. Do I just ignore the non-essential messages or tell her to keep it kid-focused? Other dads dealing with this?

Three years in and you're still managing this? Try a co-parenting app where all communication is documented. Takes the personal element out and keeps things professional. Might help her understand you need some space.

There's a difference between co-parenting communication and being constantly available. I had to learn that my ex texting me about random stuff wasn't my responsibility to answer right away. Keep it to schedule changes and kid stuff. Everything else can wait.

Constant texting is exhausting and honestly it keeps the wound open longer. I set boundaries with my ex about communication windows. Schedule stuff and emergencies only, otherwise it's creating drama that the kids feel.
