How to handle ex's new boyfriend around the kids?

She's been dating this guy for 3 months and now he's picking up my daughter from soccer practice. I don't know him. My ex says they're taking it slow but my daughter mentioned he came over for dinner last weekend. Do I have a right to ask who's around my kids, or am I being controlling? The custody order doesn't specify anything about this.

I get the frustration here. With my two, I made it a point to at least know who's spending time with them. Could you ask your ex if you can grab coffee with this guy or something? Not weird, just responsible.

Three months is pretty quick to be doing pickups, honestly. I'd have the same concern. Maybe suggest meeting the guy first in a neutral spot before he's regularly around your daughter? That way you know who's in her life.

This is tricky because you want to be cool about it but also protect your kid. I'd say trust your gut but stay calm. Maybe ask your ex what the plan is long-term before he becomes a regular fixture in pickup duty.
