Just got the custody papers signed, feeling weird

Official 50/50 custody is now locked in. I went through the whole thing expecting to feel relieved but honestly I just feel empty. Like I won? But also like I lost something. I get my kids half the time which is what I wanted, but the other half feels so quiet now. Is this normal? My buddy said this feeling goes away but man I'm struggling today.

That weird feeling is normal. A lot of guys think they'll feel this huge weight lift once the papers are signed but instead it's just... different. You've got your custody locked in which is good, but now you're dealing with the reality of what that actually looks like day to day. Give yourself time.

I felt empty more than relieved if I'm being honest. Like I'd been bracing for impact so long that when it finally happened I didn't know what to feel. The relief did come eventually but it took a few weeks for my nervous system to realize the fight was actually over.

Congrats on getting it finalized though. That's huge and probably took a lot out of you emotionally. The weird feeling might just be that you finally have stable ground to stand on instead of constantly fighting for it. That takes some adjusting to.
