Kid got sick during my weekend - what are my responsibilities?

My son woke up with a fever Saturday morning. Gave him meds, kept him hydrated, let him rest. But he's still not feeling great. My custody agreement says I have him til Sunday night. Do I contact the mom? She's usually understanding but I don't want to seem like I can't handle a sick kid. First time dealing with this since the split.

You did your job as a parent. Fever, fluids, rest - that's the protocol. Unless it was like a 104+ situation where you needed urgent care, you handled it. Some co-parents get weird about health stuff but you kept him safe and comfortable.

Sounds like you handled it perfectly honestly. You did the basics - meds, fluids, rest. You're not a doctor so you did what any parent would do. Did you reach out to your ex just to keep her in the loop?

I've been in this exact spot and honestly just keeping the ex informed helps. One text like 'he's got a fever, keeping him comfortable, will update you tomorrow' covers your bases and shows you're on top of things.
