Kid refuses to go to dad's - what do I do?

My 7 year old has been saying she doesn't want to go to her dad's on his weekends. Says she's not comfortable but won't tell me why. It's breaking my heart but I don't want to push her. Ex says she's fine when she's there. How do I handle this? Do I have to make her go?

This is tough and I get why it's weighing on you. I'd try asking open-ended questions in a calm moment - sometimes kids need time to feel safe enough to share what's really going on. If she keeps refusing, it might be worth a conversation with her dad too.

That's a hard situation. My gut says keep asking gently and listen more than you talk. She might be processing something that has nothing to do with her dad, or there could be something real. Either way, making her feel heard matters more than forcing the visits right now.
