Kids tell me stories that make me question what's happening at mom's house
My 8yo mentioned that mom's new boyfriend yelled at him for spilling milk and that made him scared. Then later my daughter said they're eating TV dinners every night now instead of actual meals. I don't want to be that guy who's always assuming the worst, but as a dad I'm concerned. How do you handle this? Do you gently ask more questions, ask your ex directly, or just wait to see if patterns emerge?
This is the stuff that keeps me up at night. If your kid is genuinely scared, that's not a small thing. I'd document what he says and consider talking to a family lawyer about it. You need to know what's really happening at her place.
Spilled milk shouldn't result in a scared kid. That's worth a real conversation with your ex about boundaries in her house. Your kids need to feel safe everywhere, not just with you.
