Custody battle has been going on for 8 months and my lawyer is costing me 2k a month. My ex keeps filing stuff and I have to respond. Is there a point where you just accept a less favorable deal to make this stop? I love my kids but I'm also trying not to go bankrupt. Any other dads been through this?
That's the worst part of custody battles - the legal system costs more than what you're fighting for sometimes. Is your ex doing the same thing or is this one-sided?
I hear you. Legal fees add stress on top of everything else you're already dealing with. Some lawyers will negotiate payment plans if it helps. Worth asking if you haven't already.
2k a month is brutal. Eight months and you're looking at 16k already. Have you asked your lawyer if there's any way to settle or mediate at this point? I know sometimes you can't but it might be worth exploring.
