My ex is using Venmo requests for child support - is that legal?

lol so our agreement says she gets $800/month, court ordered. She keeps sending me Venmo requests with notes like "daughter's soccer" or "dental work" and expects me to just... pay those separately?

That's not how this works, right? I send her the 800 every month on the 1st. If she wants to spend it on soccer or braces, that's her choice. But she's acting like those are additional expenses I should cover.

My lawyer is slow to respond and this is driving me nuts. Has anyone dealt with this? Am I being unreasonable or is she trying to game the system?

The $800 is supposed to cover this stuff though. She's trying to have it both ways - getting support AND making you pay extras. Don't fall for it.

This is a classic move to try to get more money while acting like you're being selfish. Document every Venmo request. If this goes back to court, those messages show exactly what she's doing.

No that's not legal at all. Your court order is for $800/month period. Those "extras" are HER responsibility to figure out. She can't just Venmo you random bills and expect them to come out of pocket on top of support.

My ex did the exact same thing. I started screenshotting them and told her "anything outside the $800 is your choice to pay for, those Venmo requests show intent to add to support." She stopped pretty quick after that.
