Navigating new partners and the kids

My daughter asked why she saw my girlfriend at Costco yesterday. I had her at the store but they didn't interact and I wasn't trying to hide her but now I'm wondering if I should have a conversation with my ex first before the kids see her around. She's been in my life for about 4 months. There's nothing in our custody agreement about this stuff. How many months in should I even introduce someone to my kids? I don't want the kids confused or ex to think I'm being reckless but I'm also entitled to have a life, right?

I get it, that's awkward timing. My advice from co-parenting is to get ahead of it. If your daughter's asking questions, it might be worth a quick convo with her mom so everyone's on the same page.

That's a tricky situation. I've had similar moments with my boys. The honesty approach usually works best - just keep it simple and age appropriate when she asks. She'll feel better knowing what's going on.
