Need advice on child support adjustment

So I got laid off about 2 months ago and finally found a new job but it pays about 15% less than before. My child support is based on the old salary and I'm struggling to keep up. Do I need to go back to court to modify it or can we just work something out between us? Don't want to be the guy dodging payments but I also can't afford to keep going like this. Anyone been through this?

You definitely need to get that modified ASAP, most states allow adjustments for significant income changes like a job loss. Document everything from the layoff and your new job offer, should make the process smoother.

Been through something similar a couple years back. The court usually understands that circumstances change, just get the paperwork filed before too much time passes or it'll look intentional.
