New girlfriend and custody arrangements

Been dating someone for 8 months and my ex just found out. She's losing it saying I can't have my girlfriend around the kids during my custody time. I wasn't planning to and she hasn't been around them at all. Is she allowed to make demands like that or is she just being extra? Starting to stress about what this means for my custody arrangement.

Man that's tough. Eight months is still pretty new so your ex is probably just protective of the kids. Have you two talked about what 'around the kids' actually means? Sometimes spelling out boundaries helps ease tensions.

Tyler here from Portland and I've been through this. Courts generally care more about stability and the kids' wellbeing than who you're dating, but your ex might need some time. Maybe suggest the girlfriend keeps things low-key during custody time for now and see if things settle down.
