New girlfriend drama with custody

My girlfriend moved in about 2 months ago and now my ex is threatening to take me back to court saying the kids shouldn't be around someone we're not married to yet. Honestly I think she's just being petty because she's still upset about the divorce but my lawyer says it could be a real issue. Anyone dealt with this? What do I even do here?

Man, that's a tough spot. Two months is still pretty early - your ex might just need time to adjust to the idea. With my three kids split between two houses, I've learned that keeping things low-key with new partners for a while actually helps everyone settle in better.

Courts usually care more about the kids' safety and your parenting than who's living in the house, but it depends on your custody agreement. Maybe having your girlfriend stay over less frequently for now could take some wind out of her sails while you figure this out.
