New girlfriend situation - how do I handle this with the kids?

I've been dating someone new for about 4 months and it's getting pretty serious. My kids are 8 and 11, and I'm wondering when/how to introduce them. I don't want to rush it but I also don't want to hide it and have them find out from their mom or something. My ex already knows I'm dating someone but we haven't discussed the kids meeting her. Any advice on timing and how to do this the right way? I want to be respectful to my ex but also live my life. Don't want the kids to think I'm being sneaky about anything.

Four months is still pretty new in the big picture. Before you introduce her to the kids, make sure you're both on the same page about what that means and where this is going. Kids notice everything.

How are things with your ex on this? That's the other variable that matters a lot.

Just be honest with them when the time comes. Kids are smarter than we think. Trying to hide it or ease them in weird ways usually backfires.

The age gap between your kids is interesting - 8 and 1 are two totally different worlds. The older one will pick up on the seriousness faster. Go slow with introductions and gauge how they react.
