Quick question about tax filing

Our CO specifies who claims the kids for taxes each year but my CPA is saying the other parent might have grounds to claim them too depending on custody nights. Do I need a lawyer to clarify this or is this something we can figure out ourselves? Don't want an audit fight next year.
