Rant - ex keeps calling during my parenting time

She texts constantly and now she's calling multiple times on days the kids are with me. Says it's emergencies but it's usually just stuff that can wait til I drop them off. I feel like she can't let go of control when they're not in her house. I try to be cordial but this is driving me insane. It's affecting my time with the kids because they're distracted by mom calling. Any advice on setting boundaries without being a jerk about it?

I've been there and it's exhausting. Set some boundaries with her - maybe agree that actual emergencies only, everything else gets a callback after your time is done. Three kids here and I get it, but your parenting time matters.

That's rough. We had similar stuff with my ex and I finally had to set a boundary - emergencies only during my time, everything else can wait. Document the pattern if it keeps happening, helps if you ever need to revisit custody stuff.

Man, that would drive me crazy. With the hockey schedule we've got, I need that time to actually focus on the kids. You might need to have a direct conversation about what actually counts as an emergency.

This would drive me absolutely crazy. Your parenting time is YOUR parenting time. Maybe set a rule that emergency calls only, and everything else can wait until handoff? She needs to respect the boundaries.

How often is she actually doing this? If it's legitimately constant, you might need to have a documented conversation about respecting the custody agreement. That's not about being difficult, that's about protecting your time with your kids.

That's rough. During your parenting time, your time with the kids is what matters. Constant texts and calls aren't emergency contact, they're boundary testing. You might need to set some actual rules about that.
