She's not following the custody schedule and I don't know how to handle it

My ex has been doing this thing where she randomly decides to keep the kids an extra day or two because 'they're having fun' without asking me first. I get that it sounds nice but I had plans and I didn't know if they were coming back. I tried bringing it up and she said I was being controlling. The custody agreement says alternating weeks. Do I need to lawyer up over this or am I being that guy?

That's exhausting and honestly it's not fair to you or the kids. They need to know what to expect. You might need to have a serious conversation about sticking to the plan.

This is frustrating but you gotta stay calm about it. Document everything and keep it civil. Courts don't like parents who seem controlling but they do care about consistency. Have you tried just texting her what the schedule is before the week starts?

I feel you on this one. The random schedule changes mess with everyone. Have you got it documented officially or is it just a verbal agreement? Makes a difference if things escalate.
