Son came back from dads with bruises

My 7 year old came home from his dads house yesterday with bruising on his arm and hip. When I asked what happened he got real quiet and said he fell playing. That's possible but it happened while he was at his fathers place. I'm worried but also don't want to make accusations without knowing what really happened. Should I call my ex directly, contact my lawyer, or talk to the pediatrician first? I'm trying not to jump to conclusions but this is scary as a parent.

Keep an eye on this. My oldest came home with unexplained bruises once and it turned out to be roughhousing that got a little too intense. The hesitation to explain is the red flag though - follow up gently with your son to see if he'll open up more.

That quiet response is concerning, especially at 7 years old. Trust your gut here - kids usually jump to explain accidents unless something's off. I'd document those bruises with photos and maybe have a calm conversation with his dad about what exactly happened that day.

I get the worry, man. As someone doing the two household thing myself, communication is everything. Could reach out to his dad directly and ask about the incident without accusation - might just be a rough play moment, but you need to know what went down.
