Trying to keep things civil for the kids

Divorce was finalized 8 months ago and we're doing 50/50 custody. Their mom and I still don't get along but we're both making an effort at pickup and dropoff for the kids sake. Today she complimented something my daughter did at soccer and mentioned one of my old inside jokes with a smile. Small moment but it felt like progress. Anyone else dealing with an amicable-ish divorce? It's possible but takes work.

It's tough when you don't see eye to eye but good on you for putting them first. 8 months in is still pretty early. Things tend to settle down once you both get used to the new normal.

That's the hardest part honestly. Not getting along but needing to make it work for the kids. Keep doing what you're doing, they're gonna appreciate it even if they don't say it now.

Keeping it civil is honestly the hardest part sometimes. The kids pick up on tension real quick. Sounds like you've got a good mindset about it though. How are the kids handling the split so far?
