Worried about my son during her time

My 7 year old came back from his mom's house with a black eye last weekend and wouldn't tell me how it happened. She said he fell off the couch but I'm not buying it. He's never been clumsy before and he seems scared to talk about it. I'm considering calling CPS but don't want to make things worse if I'm wrong. Anyone dealt with something like this? I'm losing sleep over it.

This needs your attention. Between the black eye and the inconsistent story, that's a red flag worth investigating further with her and possibly with a professional who can talk to your son.

That's a serious concern and you're right to dig deeper. A black eye plus not remembering how it happened would worry me too. You might want to document this and talk to your custody agreement - kids that age usually know what happened.

I'd be concerned too, man. Don't let it go without getting a straight answer. Consider reaching out to his school or pediatrician about what you observed, just to have it on record.
