My son keeps trying to one-up my jokes and honestly half of them don't even make sense but I'm so proud I'm considering recording them. Like today he said 'why did the banana go to the doctor? Because it wasn't peeling good!' He made that up himself and I've never been more afraid of the future.
This is the stage I'm in right now. My 7yo will tell me a joke that makes zero sense but the confidence in the delivery makes it funny. He thinks he's the funniest person alive and honestly I'm not mad about it.
Cherish this phase because apparently it ends and they get too cool for dad jokes. My oldest is already at the eye-roll stage.
My daughter just discovered the knock knock joke format and she's been hitting me with them for DAYS. Most of them don't make grammatical sense but I'm dying every time because her delivery is just gold.

Wait until he starts trying to do standup routines at dinner. My son memorized like five jokes from YouTube and won't stop repeating them. I've heard the banana joke approximately 400 times.
The best part is when they think they're beating your jokes but they're literally repeating stuff they heard at school. The innocence is amazing though.
