Getting caught in the worst dad joke moment of my life

So I'm at my daughter's school pickup and I'm making small talk with another dad. His kid walks up and I say 'Hey buddy, you must be exhausted from school!' He looks confused and I go 'Yeah, you've been using your brain all day!' Then I realize how that sounds and we both just stare at each other in silence. I walked away. I have no idea if he thinks I'm creepy now. Send help.

Oh man, I feel this in my soul. The school pickup small talk is a minefield and you're probably overthinking it way more than the other dad is. Happens to all of us.
