Your kid's response is actually gold though. That's the sign you've officially achieved dad joke status. When they start groaning, you know you've made it.
The DNA answer is perfect. Your son will remember this moment way more fondly than he thinks right now. Dad jokes are their own kind of love language.
This is exactly what my kids say to me. The eye roll is guaranteed. But deep down they know that dad jokes are a feature not a bug at this point.
