I told him I wanted to know what I was supposed to be doing as a dad. He said 'Dad you've been doing this wrong for 8 years?' I said 'Yeah but at least I'm consistent.' He didn't laugh but I did.

This made me laugh because it's so true. Eight years in and I'm still figuring out what the heck I'm doing with screens, homework, all of it. But that joke proves you're nailing the dad thing.

Ha, that's gold. Honestly at 8 years in you're doing way better than you think. Kids don't need perfect, they need present. That's the real instruction manual right there.
