My kid asked why I was reading the instructions
I told him I wanted to know what I was doing wrong BEFORE I messed it up. He did not find this funny. I found it hilarious.

This is gold. Kids have no appreciation for the preventative dad move. YouTube taught me plumbing, but I learned the hard way that instructions first would've saved me about three trips to Home Depot.
Man, that's a dad move right there. My kids think I'm weird for reading anything before diving in, but I've learned that five minutes of instructions beats two hours of fixing what I broke.
Ha, I feel this in my soul. My kid just rolls their eyes whenever I try to explain my logic, but honestly reading the instructions first has saved me from so many disasters.
That's actually gold. Did he eventually laugh or just stared at you like you're an idiot? My daughter does that a lot and I'm still not sure if she thinks I'm funny.
I appreciate the self awareness though. Better to know what you're probably gonna screw up than to just wing it blind.

Kids have no sense of humor about dad logic yet. Give him a few years. Then he'll be rolling his eyes but actually laughing on the inside.
