Took my 8 year old to the grocery store and he goes 'Dad why did the cookie go to the doctor?' I set myself up and asked why. He says 'Because it felt crumbly!' Then he laughed so hard at his own joke he had to sit down. I think I've created a monster but honestly it's the best thing that's happened to me all week.
Dude, crumbly, that's gold. Wait till he starts telling YOU jokes during dinner. My kids do that every night and it's honestly one of my favorite parts of the day, even when the jokes don't quite land.
This made my day. Nothing beats when your kid actually gets the joke and starts making their own. You've basically unlocked the next level of dad life right there.
This is peak parenting right there. My 8 year old has started the dad joke phase too and honestly it's hilarious watching them realize jokes are a thing they can tell. Did he wait for your reaction?
Wait til he starts making them up on the fly. That's when you know you're in trouble because they're not always funny but you have to laugh anyway because of how proud they are. Living that life right now with my oldest.
The fact that he came up with it or had he heard it before? Either way it's amazing. My kids are getting to that age where they're discovering humor and I'm here for all of it.
