My son asked me why I always tell the same jokes

I told him I like to keep things consistent. He said that wasn't funny. I said neither is your sense of humor yet, you're only 6. He didn't get it but I got a laugh out of myself which is what matters.

Your son got you there. That's a good burn. But consistency in dad jokes is important, he'll understand when he has kids of his own.

That's gold. The callback format is the whole point of dad jokes anyway. Repetition is the strategy.
