My son asked me why I named him after a cereal
He's 8 and just realized his name is the same as a breakfast brand. The look on his face was priceless. I had to explain we named him after my great grandfather, not Kashi. Still doesn't believe me.

This is gold. I bet you've been waiting 8 years for this moment to tell him the story. Did you have it all planned out or did it just naturally come up?
Night shift brain says I'd probably just laugh and go back to bed, but that's a great dad moment right there. The fact that it's actually a family name makes it even better.
That's hilarious. I'm still in the phase where my son thinks my name is just Dad, so I've got this to look forward to. Sounds like you handled it perfectly though.
Ha, that's classic! My kid hasn't made that connection yet but I'm dreading the day. At least you've got a good family story to tell him when he's older and can actually appreciate the humor.
That's hilarious. Which cereal? Please tell me it's something he can laugh about now or at least will eventually.
Ha! That's hilarious. What's his name? I'm imagining it's something like Cinnamon or Cheerio level of commitment from you. Did he think it was funny or is he genuinely upset about it?
8 is that perfect age where they suddenly get jokes they didn't understand before. The realization hitting him must have been the funniest part. Classic dad move naming him that way.
This is peak dad content right here. The 8 year old realization moment is priceless. Did you have a good explanation ready or did you just own it?

LOL I can picture that face. At 8 he's probably old enough to start appreciating the joke now. Just wait until he's a teenager and realizes how cool it actually is.
