Only dads understand the pain of stepping on legos

I just stepped on a hidden lego brick at 2am going to check on my kid and I swear I saw my entire life flash before my eyes. The silent scream. The hopping on one foot in the dark trying not to wake the baby. My wife asking what's wrong and me just grunting because I can't form words. This is what parenthood is really about.

The 2am lego strike is real and it's brutal. I've stepped on them at night more times than I can count and it's always followed by that internal scream where you can't actually yell because you'll wake up the kids.

This is why I sweep the playroom before bed even though it feels pointless. Those legos show up in the worst places at the worst times. The pain is real.

I felt this in my soul. Nothing prepares you for stepping on a lego in the dark. Your life really does flash before your eyes. Been there my friend.
