Well here I am telling my kids that I'm not sleeping, I'm just resting my eyes. Then I fell asleep during Bluey and missed the whole episode. The irony is not lost on me. Also I now understand why my dad laughed at his own jokes so much. Comedy gold over here.
I'm definitely becoming my dad. Caught myself resting my eyes during a Little League game last week and my kid was actually upset because I missed his at bat. The irony was not lost on me.
This is the way. Wait until you've got four of them - you'll be power napping through entire seasons of shows and not feel bad about it one bit. Missing Bluey episodes is just part of the dad starter pack.
The 'resting my eyes' thing is peak dad energy and honestly it's kind of beautiful. My kids are just now getting old enough to call me out on it, and I'm totally fine with it.
Dude, I'm not even a year in and I can already feel it happening to me. The 3am crying sessions are brutal but somehow I still catch myself nodding off during whatever's on the TV. We're becoming them and there's nothing we can do to stop it.
I literally said the exact same phrase yesterday and then conked out mid sentence. My oldest laughed so hard. At least we can own it now instead of pretending like we're not exhausted all the time.

The cycle continues. My dad said that to me and now I'm saying it to my kids. In like 20 years they'll be doing the same thing and the wheel keeps turning.
