Told my kids we were having cereal for dinner because mom was working late. Youngest looks at me dead serious and says "Dad that's not a real meal, that's what you make when you have no idea what you're doing." Pretty sure I got roasted by a 5 year old. He's not wrong though.

My kids would absolutely call me out the same way. Then I'd actually have to make real dinner because I got caught in the lie.

That look is priceless. Kids have a way of calling you out on logic that adults would just accept. Cereal for dinner is basically the same as regular breakfast though right?

I appreciate the confidence in your plan. The deadpan stare from a kid when they catch you in a parenting shortcut is unmatched.
