My 5 year old pointed at the candy and said 'Can we get that?' and I said 'Sure, we can get it and leave it here.' His face was priceless. My wife was not amused but I was dying. This is peak dad comedy right here.

The checkout line really is the perfect stage for dad comedy. Five year olds are just at that age where they're starting to get humor but not quick enough to shut you down. Maximum comedy window right there.

That's actually hilarious. The logical trap of the dad joke. You technically didn't say no, which I respect. Did he actually believe you or did he call you out on the technicality?

Haha I do stuff like this all the time at checkout with my daughter. The eye roll from other parents is worth it. Did he laugh or just get confused about whether he was getting candy?
