My 6 year old was asking me what I was making for dinner and I said 'I'm making a mess of things as usual' and then he asked me why I always mess things up. Solid dad joke execution but questionable parenting decision lol. Do your kids not get the joke or do they get it too well?

Ha, self deprecating humor is basically our love language as dads. Your kid called you out but he's listening to you and learning from the interaction, so that's what matters.

I feel this. My 6 year old is at that age where he gets the joke but also isn't afraid to tell me when my delivery is off. Keep telling them, he'll appreciate it when he's older.

That's hilarious and also the most dad thing ever. My kids do the same thing where they point out every joke that doesn't land. At least you're trying to keep the humor going.
