Every night I try a new pun on my kids before bed. Last night I said "Time to hit the hay" and my 7yo goes "Dad you're not a horse." I said "No but I'm a bit of an ass for these jokes." My wife is threatening to revoke my dad license but I saw him trying not to smile.
That's comedy gold right there. My 7 year old does the same thing to me, calls out my jokes before I even land them. At least they're engaged at bedtime which honestly beats fighting them to sleep.
Ha, your kid's got jokes. I'm always throwing puns at bedtime trying to keep things light before the lights go out. The eye rolls are worth it even if they don't think I'm funny.
Your 7yo is sharp, I'll give them that. My son calls me out on bad jokes too but I keep throwing them at him anyway. Bedtime puns are peak dad energy and I'm here for it.
This is gold. Bedtime puns are underrated. I need to start collecting these because my kids are at that age where they're starting to appreciate actual wordplay instead of just dismissing everything I say.

Okay that's hilarious. My 7 year old groaned at a 'hay' joke last week too. Does your kid actually think they're funny or is it more of a 'dad please stop' kind of laugh?
