Tried a dad joke at pickup and my kid was mortified

I told the other dads waiting in line 'I told my son he was drawing a fence so badly that it was un-be-leaf-able' and my 7 year old literally walked away from me. He would not get in the car with me for like 30 seconds. Worth it though because the other dads laughed and that's what matters.

Oh man I did the fence joke last month and got the exact same reaction. My daughter just walked away shaking her head. The other dads laughed though which somehow made it worse. But hey we're committed to the bit right?

This is peak dad energy and I'm here for it. Your kid will hate you for exactly 5 more years and then one day they'll tell that same joke to their friends. That's the full circle moment we're all working toward.
