I've learned to just sit quietly at games. Anything I say gets me in trouble anyway.

Oh man, I've been there. I once cheered when my kid's team fumbled the ball. The looks I got were priceless.
This made me laugh out loud. At least you're committed to the bit. My wife does the same head shake when I try to be enthusiastic at school events.
