What did I tell my kid about his report card?
His grades were pretty rough so I said 'These test scores are so low they need their own zipcode.' He did not laugh. My wife laughed though which is basically the same thing.

Love that you kept it funny instead of going nuclear. Bad grades suck but humor helps. Now the real conversation about what's going on with the actual studying?
That's a solid dad joke response to rough grades. At least you're keeping it light instead of making him feel worse about it. Now the real work is figuring out what support he needs.
Ha! I'm stealing this one. My oldest just brought home a report card that needs serious help and I was going to give the disappointed speech. This is way better.
Haha, I respect the delivery but how did that land with him? Sometimes they don't get the humor when it's about their grades.
Pretty good setup but also hopefully he's working on bringing those grades up. Can't just joke about it, gotta have the follow-up plan too.

That's brutal. Kids don't hold back with the roasting. Did he laugh at least or was this a risky joke moment?
