Is it really a thing or just what we call ourselves when we stop going to the gym after our first kid? Asking for a friend who hasn't seen his abs since 2015.

Dad bod is real and I'm making peace with it. My six pack turned into a keg somewhere between kid one and kid two. But honestly my kids think I'm the strongest guy alive so who cares what the internet thinks.
The real thing is I have way less energy for the gym after working and parenting. It's not about giving up, it's about time and exhaustion being real. Some of us do find time to stay fit but for a lot of us the dad bod just happens.

I think it's just reality. We go from having time to hit the gym to having zero time. It's not lazy, it's just priorities shifted. That said, I started doing pushups while my kids play instead of sitting on my phone and that helped.
Hilarious how quickly it happens too. Like I was 'fit dad' for about three years then one day I looked in the mirror and thought when did this happen.
