Just told my kids that the gym is a place where you go to watch other people work out and they actually believed me for a solid 10 seconds. My 8 year old said 'Dad that's the dumbest thing you've ever said' and honestly he's not wrong. But I'll keep trying.

This is exactly what I needed to see. I've been taking myself way too seriously. Time to dust off the old humor and weaponize dad jokes on my kids.

Your kids are going to remember these moments way more than you think. The eye rolls now are just part of the tradition. Solid parenting disguised as terrible comedy.

That gym joke is peak dad. Did they groan or actually laugh? The best response is always the delayed laugh about 5 seconds later when they realize you got them.
