Because we're all just trying to make our families laugh and groan at the same time. Plus when you get that one eye roll from your kid you know you've won. Anyway I'm on my way to pick up my comedy awards at the local dad convention nobody invited me to.
The groans are everything. My kids act like they hate my jokes but they're the first ones to repeat them to their friends.
Running on fumes and dad jokes is basically the new dad starter pack. You're doing it right already.
Honestly I think it's because bad jokes are low stakes. Nobody's hurt by a terrible pun. Kids get that it's silly on purpose.
Because the groans are the whole point. That's when you know they're listening. Silence would be worse.
The groaning is just love in disguise. My kids pretend to hate my jokes but they repeat them to their friends so I know they're working.
