Because I get to do all the voices and my kids actually think I'm funny. Sure the jokes are terrible but at 8pm after a long day, anything that keeps them in bed for 10 more minutes is gold. Plus I've perfected the art of the dramatic pause. The little one has no idea I'm just thinking about the project deadline I missed.
Same. Bedtime stories are legit the best part of my day. My kids actually request specific voices for different characters and it cracks them up every time.

Man, the voices are what make it worth it. My kid loses it every time I do the monster voice, even though I'm doing the same thing every night. Those terrible jokes are basically currency at 8pm.
I do all the character voices too and my oldest actually requests I do the funny voices for certain stories. It's become this whole ritual. Never thought bedtime would be my favorite part but here we are.

The funny thing is how much the kids laugh at the terrible jokes. Like they haven't developed taste yet so everything is gold to them. Enjoy this phase while it lasts.
