Okay I know everyone's been saying this for like 5 years but I finally got one and wow. Threw a frozen chicken breast in there with some broth and veggies at 5:45pm and had dinner done by 6:15pm. No thawing, no hour-long cooking. Just set it and forget it. Why did I wait so long? Highly recommend if...
Expected it to be packed and annoying. It was packed but not bad since we went on a Tuesday morning. The water table kept my 4yo occupied for like 45 mins straight. My 7yo did the climbing wall section probably 20 times. Wife and I actually got to sit down and watch. $18 each adult, kids free under ...
So my 14yo's TikTok feed suddenly started showing a lot of like... body checking content and unhealthy diet stuff. I noticed because she was asking weird questions about calories. We talked about it and I did some digging and apparently this is a KNOWN issue where the algorithm pushes kids toward ea...
We switched to Google Family Link and honestly it's been a game-changer. Not fancy but both of us can see the schedule, add notes, share documents without needing to text back and forth at 10pm like we used to. She's not on her phone constantly replying so I'm not waiting for answers. Might seem bas...
I see a lot of guilt-tripping about screen time on here and I just wanted to say... my kids watch shows, play games, use educational apps, and they're fine. They also play outside, read books, do sports. It's not zero-sum. The apocalyptic predictions about screens haven't really come true in our hou...
Just got my 3yo down after a 2 hour ordeal involving: water, 47 questions, requesting each parent separately, crying about socks, and me reading Goodnight Moon in three different voices. It's 9:30pm. I have nothing left in the tank. How are other dads handling the bedtime battle? Do they eventually ...
Our 4-month-old acts like we're torturing him every time we put him on his stomach. Screams immediately. We do like 5 minutes max because we feel guilty. Physical therapist says he needs it but also says we don't need to force it if he's really upset. So like... what do we actually do here? Are we g...
Genuinely curious because I feel like I see all these posts about picky eaters and my 7yo will just demolish broccoli and carrots like they're going out of style. Is this a fluke? Am I doing something right by accident? Or will he hit some age where he suddenly decides vegetables are poison lmaooo
Just got the quote for our second kid starting in Sept and I'm actually sitting in my car at work writing this because I'm too embarrassed to show my wife in person. $2,400/month for full-time infant care. That's more than our mortgage. I get that supply/demand and teachers need to be paid but wtf. ...
I know this is small potatoes for some of you but man I'm pumped. Been working with him for like 6 months on the bunny ears method and today he just... did it. No prompting, no "dad can you help?". Just walked into the kitchen with his sneakers tied and I almost teared up lol. My wife thinks I'm bei...
Baby is 6 weeks old now and I think my wife is still processing it. She's mentioned a few times how disappointed she was, and I don't really know what to say. It's not like she can do it over. Do I just... acknowledge it sucks and move on? Anyone dealt with birth plan disappointment with their partn...
My son just turned 3 months and some days he'll sleep 4 hours straight, other days he's up every 90 minutes. We're doing the SNOO and it helps but I feel like we're not following any real pattern yet. Is this normal? Everyone keeps telling me to "just wait it out" but I'm exhausted and my wife is ev...
Looking for a therapist who specifically gets the dad thing and ideally one who isn't gonna make me feel bad about WFH and then feeling obligated to do all the evening childcare. My kids are 4 and 6. Tried someone at Thriveworks but they weren't clicking with me. Would appreciate any recs, preferabl...
Okay so her parents are constantly telling our kids to ignore our rules when they visit. We said no screens before bed but grandma lets them play on tablets till 10pm. We're trying to teach them to respect authority and follow through on consequences but it's impossible when family is sabotaging us....
So my youngest was watching something on YouTube (I was in the room) and one video ended and the recommended video auto-played. He literally said "oh the algorithm is doing it again." I'm not sure if I should be proud he understands concepts like that or horrified that he understands algorithms at 6...
