Been getting back into this after not touching my collection since college. Picked up a 1987 Topps Ken Griffey Jr rookie the other day at an estate sale for 80 bucks which felt like a steal. The market is wild right now though. Some of these cards are going for insane money. Just curious if other gu...
My 8yr old son is talented but gets really upset when his team loses or when he makes a mistake. Last Saturday he literally threw his shin guard across the field. The coach handled it well but I'm wondering how other dads deal with this? He's not usually aggressive about other stuff, just seems to h...
Just got both kids down at 8:15. It's now 8:42 and I'm on my third cup of coffee sitting in complete silence. No one is asking me to find their shoes, refill their water, or settle an argument. This 2 hours before I have to go to bed is pure gold. Why do I waste it scrolling Reddit instead of actual...
Been going to this mental health support group for dads for 4 weeks now. It's run by this guy named Ted who actually gets what we're dealing with. Super judgment-free space to talk about burnout, marriage stuff, parenting anxiety, whatever. Meets Tuesday nights. If you're in the Portland area and be...
I've been thinking about putting in a backyard zip line setup. My kids are 9 and 11 and they'd be obsessed. But I'm wondering if it's actually safe or if I'm about to create a trip to the ER. Has anyone installed one? Is it complicated? What do I need to know before even attempting this?
School just ended and my wife and I are already fighting about screen time. She's like "he should only get 1 hour a day" and I'm thinking maybe 2 hours on rainy days is reasonable? He's 8. We've got them in soccer camp and some other activities but it's not like we can fill 8 hours of every day. Wha...
I was skeptical about meds. Tried for years to just "deal with it" through exercise and sleep. Started 10mg Lexapro 6 months ago and tbh it's been a game changer. The anxiety that used to have me in a vice grip is manageable now. I still have bad days but they don't spiral into week-long depressions...
She's 4 months and for the past 6 weeks bedtime has been a 45 minute ordeal. Tonight I tried the white noise + swaddle + dark room combo all at once and she just... conked out. Small win but I'm taking it. Gonna try the same thing tomorrow and see if it was a fluke or if we're actually turning a cor...
Been in sales for 12 years but I'm considering a move to project management or operations—something with more predictable hours and less travel. Pay might be similar, maybe slightly less. The problem is I've built my entire identity around being the guy who closes deals, and I'm worried I'll feel li...
Looking for something for my 6-year-old's preschool. Needs pockets, good straps that don't hurt his shoulders, and tbh something that doesn't look like every other backpack at pickup. We've had some cheap ones fall apart. What brands do you guys trust? Budget's around $40-60.
After 18 months of legal back-and-forth, the judge ruled in my favor. I have the kids (12, 9, 7) full-time now with my ex having them every other weekend plus one weeknight. Honestly I'm relieved and terrified at the same time? Like I wanted this, fought for it, and now I'm like oh god I have HOMEWO...
My 13yo came home last weekend and mentioned her mom told her I "don't care about spending money on her" because I won't pay for the $300 soccer camp. Like... I literally just paid for her club team uniform and cleats. This is frustrating because she's old enough to see through it but also young eno...
Been dating someone seriously for 4 months. My kids are 6 and 9. Too early? My ex started dating like 2 months after we split and had her boyfriend around constantly which drove me up the wall. I don't want to be that guy but also don't want to rush it. What's the general consensus here? Is there a...
Seriously asking. My 3-month-old is a projectile spitter and I've ruined like 5 shirts, 2 car seats, and a sofa cushion in the past week. Laundry detergent, enzyme stuff, nothing is working. Do I just accept that everything will smell like sour milk for the next year?
I keep hearing about these magical moments where dads fall in love with their babies immediately. With my 2-month-old I'm... trying? I do skin-to-skin, I talk to her, I change diapers. But a lot of the time I just feel like I'm going through motions and waiting for something to click. My wife bonded...
