Decided to smoke a brisket last Saturday just because and invited over the family two doors down who just moved in. Word got out and suddenly I had like 15 people in my yard by evening. That's never happened to me before and honestly it was awesome. The brisket turned out incredible, smoked it for l...
This Saturday I'm cleaning out and organizing the garage. Been putting it off for 2 years. My plan is to get some shelving units, bin everything that's loose, and actually be able to park the car in here. Gonna start early and hopefully knock it out by afternoon. Wish me luck because my family is de...
Haven't been to a sports bar in like 8 months with the new baby. Missing my buddies and some decent game day food. Looking for recommendations near the suburbs if anyone knows any good spots. Thinking about finally taking a night out.
I've probably seen it 5 times through now but I put it on at night while the baby finally sleeps and I'm just staring at my phone. Comfort show life.
Just wanted to share a win. We switched to Apple's screen time feature combined with setting up separate iCloud accounts for each kid. Set app limits on games and social media, enabled downtime from 9pm to 7am. My 10 and 13 year old actually complained less than expected and honestly family dinner i...
Been working on this for like 3 months between kids activities and work. Got my pegboard organized, all my tools hung up properly, and even got a decent lighting setup installed. Nothing fancy but man does it feel good to have a real workspace now. Already planning my first project. Anyone else spen...
Going through a custody battle right now and the lawyer said every text to my ex could be used against me. So now we use this weird app for all communication. It feels so formal and sad but I get why. Only 6 months left until trial. Anyone else been through this? My ex keeps being difficult about pi...
Got the last piece today - a decent desk chair that won't destroy my back. Took forever to save up between kids activities and house stuff but man does it feel good to have a place that's actually mine. Got my pc, some decent speakers, and now I can actually enjoy gaming for more than 20 minutes bef...
Been doing this for 8 months now. Took a pay cut but I'm present for my kids which was the whole point. I'm at their soccer practices, I make dinner most nights, I see my youngest when he gets home from kindergarten. The money stress is real and I miss the structure sometimes. But watching my oldest...
I'm making tacos but honestly I'm just throwing it together because I forgot to plan. The kids will eat them, the wife will pretend to enjoy them, and I'll be cleaning up for an hour. Such is life. What are you guys cooking?
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical. Felt like a waste of time and money at first but my therapist finally got me to talk about some stuff I've been holding onto for years. It's weird opening up to a stranger but it's helping. For anyone on the fence about it, I'd say just try a few sessions. Took me tha...
Taking three months starting next month when the baby comes. My company offers it and I'm determined to use it. I know some guys think it's gonna tank my career but I've already talked to my manager and she's supportive. I'll work a few hours a day from home if needed but I'm not gonna miss the earl...
I know it's not the deepest show but man it just hits different when you're tired and just want to zone out after kids go to bed. My wife made fun of me for watching it again but then she got hooked too. Now we're both rooting for Jim and Pam again like we don't know how it ends. 10/10 would recomme...
This might sound weird but I feel alone a lot even though I'm married with three kids. Like nobody really gets me or what's going on in my head. My buddies from high school have drifted off, I'm too tired after work and kids to maintain friendships. Wife is doing her own thing with the kids. I love ...
Some days I just can't get motivated to do anything, even stuff with my kids. I love them but getting out of bed feels impossible. My wife has been really supportive but I can tell she's frustrated. Started going back to therapy last month and my doctor prescribed something. It helps but some mornin...
