Been working on this for like 3 months. Got the pegboard up, organized all my tools, got some decent lighting installed. My 7yo came out yesterday and said 'Dad this looks like a real workshop now' and honestly that made it all worth it. Now I actually want to spend time out there instead of just mo...

So I finally took the plunge and found a therapist. First session was awkward as hell talking to a stranger about my stuff, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. My wife has been pushing me to do this for years. Has anyone else been skeptical at first but found it actually helped? I'm not sure what t...

So I work from home and my kids are doing distance learning. They're upstairs doing their classes and I'm sitting here in the home office trying to focus on spreadsheets and conference calls but I keep thinking about how they're right there and I can't help with homework or grab them a snack or what...

No phones, no rushing around, just me and my three at the park for like three hours. We played tag, went down the slides approximately one million times, had a picnic, and just goofed around. My oldest is getting to that age where he's into his own thing usually but today he was totally present and ...

Got my buddies over last Saturday and we knocked out the whole thing in one day. 12x14 composite deck with stairs and everything. I was stressed about measurements but honestly YouTube saved my life. My wife cried when she saw it done. That's a dad win right there.

Took the boys camping for the first time this past weekend and let me tell you it did NOT go as planned. Forgot the camping stove, kids got eaten alive by mosquitoes, and it rained like crazy Saturday night. Everyone was miserable and we packed up early. Before I give up on camping though I want to ...

My son just got old enough where he actually wants to hike instead of getting carried the whole time. We did about a mile loop last Sunday and he made it the whole way but was pretty tired. I want to do more family hikes this summer but don't want to burn him out. What's reasonable distance for a 3 ...

Got my grill cleaned up and ready to go. Planning to do burgers and dogs for the kids this weekend and maybe some steaks for me and the wife after they go to bed. My neighbor asked to borrow my grill next week and I'm like buddy no that's not happening. This is my sanctuary. Anyone else get weirdly ...

Planning our first real camping trip without my wife (girls weekend trip for her, my turn with the boys). Going to be in the mountains, probably hitting some easy trails and basically just hanging out. I've got a decent tent and sleeping bags but I'm worried about cooking. Thinking of doing like hot...

So I've got this massive oak tree in the backyard and my son has been begging for a treehouse. I found some plans online and I'm pretty handy so I think I can do it. My wife is nervous about safety which is fair. I'm planning to use galvanized bolts, pressure treated wood, and keeping it like 12 fee...

I've been dealing with pretty bad anxiety lately and it keeps telling me I'm screwing up my kids. Like I'll lose patience over something small and then spiral thinking I'm damaging them somehow. I'm in therapy now which is helping but some days are harder than others. Anyone else deal with this? I f...

Planning our first real camping trip next month. We're going to a state park about 2 hours away for 3 days. I've got a tent, sleeping bags, cooler situation figured out. But I feel like I'm forgetting something important. The kids are 4, 7, and 9. Should I bring like a camp stove or just do campfire...

Was at the grocery store and another dad told me his kids were on their best behavior because they saw mine listening and not running around crazy. Made my whole week honestly. We put in the work with consistency and boundaries but you never know if it's actually working until someone else notices. ...

This is gonna sound small but I need to share it. A few weeks ago I committed to praying with my youngest before he goes to sleep. Just simple stuff, thanking God for the day, asking Him to watch over our family, whatever comes to mind. Last night he asked me if God could help his friend's dad stop ...

So we switched from the 50/50 every other week thing to 4 days on 3 days off because my ex wanted to be closer to her new job. The kids are asking why the schedule is different and honestly I'm not sure how to explain it without sounding like I'm blaming their mom. How do you guys handle this? My 7 ...
